University of Utah announces new School of Environment, Society & Sustainability
In a new press release by @theU, the University of Utah announces the new School of Environment, Society, and Sustainability. The new school, formed this summer, is a merger between two successful programs: the Department of Geography and the Environmental & Sustainability Studies program. Environmental expertise within the school includes the following:
- physical sciences (e.g. ecology, paleoecology, glaciology, geomorphology, snow hydrology)
- social and behavioral sciences (e.g. environmental justice, environment sociology, politics ecology, economic geography)
- data science (e.g. geographic information science, remote sensing, ecoinformatics)
“Working together and looking at problems from multiple perspectives is going to catalyze big societal impacts,” said Phil Dennison, the new school's director.
