The Aquatic Ecology Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Oakland University (Rochester, Michigan) seeks a highly motivated PhD student in the area of aquatic ecology to start in August, 2025, overseen by Professor Scott Tiegs.
Competitive candidates will have experience in some combination of the following areas in order to successfully complete their research: statistical analysis in program R; field/lab work in aquatic ecology; anthropogenic impacts; GIS/remote sensing; scientific writing; stream ecology; macroinvertebrate ID; carbon cycling/organic-matter decomposition and ecological restoration. Applicants with a Master’s degree are preferred, but those with a Bachelor’s degree will be considered, especially if they have research experience. Research will consist of a combination of analyzing existing data sets, generating novel data through the execution of field and lab experiments, and performing observational studies.
