ENVST 5555 Rio Mesa Field Trip
Students from the ENVST Capstone in Conservation, Land Management, and Sense of Place took a 3-day, 2-night field trip to the U’s Bonderman Field Station at Rio Mesa. Dr. Rachna Reddy sought to help students understand how building relationships can lead to innovations and problem solving critical for imagining a more sustainable future. Students took hikes, journaled in field notebooks while looking out at the Dolores River, cooked meals together, and discussed ideas over the campfire. They also spent a morning digging foundations for new “green” housing structures that are part of a new faculty-led project at the field station.
